Aban 13th: A Symbol of Resistance Against Global Arrogance

Hojatoleslam Seyyed Mohsen Mahmoudi has underscored the importance of commemorating Aban 13th, describing the day as a symbol of resistance against global arrogance. He said that given the current conditions—described as an all-out battle against the United States and the Zionist regime—this year's commemoration carries special significance.

Hawzah News Agency- Speaking at a meeting of the headquarters for commemorating Aban 13th in the townships of Tehran Province, held in the conference hall of the provincial Department of Education, Mahmoudi stated that this year's Aban 13th is far more important than in previous years, as "today we are engaged in an all-out, existential battle with America and the Zionist regime."

The head of the Coordination Council for Islamic Propagation in the townships of Tehran Province added that 13 Aban is Student Day, and the townships of Tehran Province take pride in having offered 657 student martyrs during the imposed war and 23 student martyrs in the recent war.

Outlining the central programs planned for schools on the occasion, he continued that memorial ceremonies for the student martyrs of the Ramadan war and the martyrs of the Minab school are on the agenda during these days, along with honoring the families of martyrs in schools.

Mahmoudi emphasized that a Aban 13th headquarters should be formed in schools to make use of the capacities of students, educators, parents, and instructors.

He stated that Rahian-e Noor camps—focused on introducing the crimes of America and the Zionist regime—will be held with students visiting areas that have been attacked by arrogant powers, noting that narrating these crimes can certainly have a high impact.

The head of the 13 Aban Commemoration Headquarters for the townships of Tehran Province stated that the 13 Aban march is the National Day of Struggle against global arrogance, and beyond students, other segments and groups must participate in the march in maximum numbers.

Referring to the importance of using the capacity of public squares and nighttime gatherings, he emphasized that gatherings in squares are an unparalleled capacity, and this opportunity should be used for the presence of students and the holding of numerous creative programs related to Aban 13th.

Mahmoudi further stated that the "Arrogance-Struggle Bell" will be rung as a nationwide ceremony in all schools across the townships of Tehran Province.

Background: Why Aban 13th Matters

Aban 13th (November 4) marks three pivotal events in Iran's contemporary history: the exile of Imam Khomeini by the Pahlavi regime in 1964, the massacre of students at Tehran University by the Shah's forces in 1978, and the takeover of the US embassy in Tehran in 1979—the latter giving rise to the annual "National Day of the Fight Against Global Arrogance." The day has since become a centerpiece of Iran's revolutionary calendar, used to reinforce the ethos of resistance.
